Jupiter: Apple Ships 6.5M iPods in Q3

David Card posts about Apple's latest earnings at the Jupiter Analyst Weblogs. According tio Apple, "it shipped 6.45 million iPods in the September quarter, compared to 6.2M in the June quarter and 2M a year ago. That's right in line with the assumptions built into our forecast model."

The "iPod ASP is up a smidge, and company gross margins are up overall. Apple says it shipped 1 million nanos in the last 17 days of the quarter, and there are big backlogs. $265M in "other music" revenues (which includes the iTunes store, but also iPod peripherals), which is up from $241M in the June quarter and $96M a year ago."
