Even Junk Firms Going Wireless

The Charlotte Observer profiles how a local small business is using mobile technology to cut costs and provide better service. This trend is being spurred on by faster data networks and better converged devices.

Ellen Daley at Forrester noted that although "igger organizations "continue to ramp up wireless deployment of BlackBerry pagers, calendars, field-service applications and the like," the "adoption of such technologies this year outpaced projections among major companies."

She said, "Companies that have grown skeptical of carrier promises and jaded on wireless' false starts set halfhearted 2005 adoption plans, but then enthusiastically embraced the wireless networks as they were made available."
