Apple hinting at new gadgets

The San Francisco Chronicle writes that it's that time of year again to speculate what Apple will announce next. The company recently sent out invites for a special event at Apple headquarters on February 28 to "Come see some fun new products from Apple."

Some recent rumors for new Apple products include a cell phone, Mac Mini media center computer, new Intel-based notebooks and "a new iPod with wider screen that's touch sensitive."

Michael Gartenberg at JupiterResearch said, "We're talking about Apple, so it could be all of those things, none of those things, or something brand new."

Ross Rubin at NPD Group, thought trying to speculate what Apple might announce is a "fruitless guessing game." Rubin thought the announcement might be related to "the portable devices category, which is dominated by Apple's iPods, and the automobile, where Apple has been making deals with manufacturers to integrate iPod compatibility in their cars."

I predict Steve Jobs will wear a black mock turtleneck, jeans and a pair of New Balance running shoes. Beyond that, who knows...
