Smartphones For The Enterprise?

Although he's not an analyst, Daniel Taylor is a big-time evangelist for the mobile enterprise and is the managing director of the The Mobile Enterprise Alliance.

In response to a post a couple of days ago where Jupiter's Michael Gartenberg discussed "Why iPhones Get Buzz and Windows Smartphones Don't", Taylor writes a very thorough and lengthy post on his Mobile Enterprise Weblog about the many challenges enterprises face deploying and supporting mobile devices, especially when employees expect to use their latest and greatest purchase for work.

I couldn't do it justice trying to summarize the post, but it is well worth the read. However I will leave you with one thought. While most of the industry and media are enamored with the latest mobile gadgets that offer a slew of features and multimedia functions (including myself), one has to remember it is the data-hungry enterprise customers who are driving significant ARPU for the carriers. Neglect them at your peril because they do have some clout in what types of smartphones and devices finally make it to market....
