Jupiter: SanDisk Does Portable Music Subscriptions

David Card posts at the Jupiter Analyst Weblogs about SanDisk's upgraded Sansa™ m200 series of MP3 music players that range in price from $79 for 512MB to $199 for 4GB, and works with music subscription services. Card states it is the:

First serious flash-based device to support portable subscriptions. Aggressive pricing. We think this could be an emerging sweetspot, especially when you can get a few hundred songs on a $100 device.
Card also notes RealNetwork's Rhapsody service is borrowing from the cell phone industry, and subsidizing the cost of the Sansa players to the tune of an $80 rebate, if purchasers sign on for 6 months of service at $15 a month. Will SanDisk's pricing combined with music subscriptions be enough to take on Apple? 15 bucks a months seems like a hefty price to pay for unlimited music....
