Tim Bajarin: Apple's iPod Video

Tim Bajarin at Creative Strategies posts at Technology Pundits his thoughts on the possibility of a video iPod from Apple. Bajarin doesn't think it will happen anytime soon due to a lack of real solid video content available from an "iTunes like store for purchasing movies, documentaries, music videos and other commercial content."

Bajarin concludes that although Hollywood and the technology community are making progress on a DRM solution,

at this point, I don’t see Hollywood ready to endorse any real DRM solutions that would allow for an iTunes like video store any time soon. Steve Job’s has argued that there still is no content worthy of a portable media like device. Given his position on this, and Hollywood’s reluctance to endorse a DRM that would allow for the creation of this type of online video store, I don’t believe we will see a videopod from Apple until Hollywood is ready to let them or anyone else sell and distribute their movies over the Internet.
