M:Metrics: Apple Needs To Think "Platform" Not "Device"

Seamus McAteer at M:Metrics blogs his thoughts on what Apple needs to do to tackle the wireless industry. He states:

The wireless sector is different. Even if the ROCKR was a breakthrough device it would take it at least 18 months to break through a 1 million installed base. To emulate the success of the iPod in the wireless sector Apple needs to adopt a more open posture to licensing support for iTunes that will insure that it is supported on at least a dozen or more handsets.
