Radio Shack Not Good Enough for Verizon Wireless

On his Jupiter Analyst Weblog, Joseph Laszlo adds his two cents on Radio Shack and Verizon ending their long-standing relationship. Yesterday, Verizon issued a press release announcing the breakup, and Laszlo points out that it implies RadioShack''s high distribution fees drove the company "from a partner to a vigorous competitor of RadioShack."

>Since Verizon's audience "is VERY mainstream, and increasingly so over time," Laszlo expresses interest if Verizon will find "another very mainstream retail partner" to replace RadioShack, which was "an important venue for reaching these super mainstream customers."
