All Tapped Out

Gerry Purdy at MobileTrax is one of first analysts to comment on the demise of Tapwave in an article from vnunet.com. The Palm-based handheld gaming device was discontinued last week.

According to Purdy, it never got off to a good start and was hampered by lack of funds, limited distribution channel and the impending launch of the Sony PSP which scared away potential investors.

"They were thinking: 'Do I want to compete with Sony?' The lack of capital resulted in the company not being able to enter into distribution agreements to build a product," Purdy noted.

I haven't had much experience with the Tapwave but I know a number of folks who swore by it. Sounded like cost and a lack of good gaming content finally did it in....
