High-end Handsets

Newsweek writes about the high-end handsets taking the market by storm recently. The article notes Motorola has sold more than 5 million Razr V3s worldwide in less than a year. Even with a mix of cool features, its real appeal is the slim, sleek design. As Gartner analyst Ben Wood said, the Razr is "just a cool phone."

Trying to counter Motorola's success, Nokia recently launched its own top-end model, the $800+ Nokia 8800. Analyst Richard Windsor of Nomura Bank is lukewarm on the design and chances for success. "It does not have a lot of people saying 'Ooh, I want one'," he said.
