Qualcomm to Buy Flarion

Bloomberg covers Qualcomm's acqusition of Flarion Technologies that "will help Qualcomm support high-speed services such as video to mobile phones."

The article cites research from In-Stat that projects "demand for mobile video will rise to 30 million users by 2010 from about 1.1 million this year."

According to American Technology Research analyst Albert Lin, Flarion tested its products with Nextel and their "high-speed access system is two to three times faster than peers."

"Video is near and dear to Qualcomm. Flarion is one of the leaders for doing wireless video delivery," commented Lin.
