Gizmondo Distributed by Argos and HMV

Analyst Nate Elliott at Jupiter Research blogs that the Gizmondo handheld gaming device is being stocked by several UK retailers, including "discount shop Argos, music/DVD store HMV, and electronics/appliance store Comet."

Elliott does note that the Gizmondo has yet to be launched in the U.S. and will face "brutal portable gaming competition from Nintendo and Sony." Odds don't look good because as we've learned time and time again, the hardware is usually a loss leader and the real money is made in content. With Tapwave gone, can the market bear another handheld gaming device?
