The Battle for Power (outlets)

One of the downsides of the mobile life is never having enough juice for the variety of gadgets one carries. Michael Gartenberg of Jupiter Research blogs about battery life being "the big Achilles heel behind multiple converged devices," and ruminates about the extent people will go to find a power outlet when they're on the go.

I can definitely relate as I'm posting this from John Wayne Airport in the O.C, and it took over 30 minutes just to find an available outlet that also had a good wifi connection for my notebook .

Gartenberg concludes that "unless there are some real breakthroughs in battery life, expect to see most folks carry more stuff, not less." Unfortunately for us folks trying to embrace the mobile way, he's spot on...
