MOTO Q expected to be shipped within 30 days

Crain's Chicago Business reports that the Motorola Q "should ship within the next 30 days to Verizon Wireless dealers" according to Albert Lin at American Technology Research.

Lin predicted that "there will be strong consumer demand for the Blackberry-like device, even though it hits the market months late and will be relatively pricey — around $299 for a two-year contract."

Lin noted "Verizon has a large backlog of orders for the smartphone, and Motorola’s production is essentially sold out for the next few quarters." He said, "How solid is that backlog if you still have problems (delivering the phone)?"

Let's hope it lands before the end of June for Motorola's sake. Announcing it in the summer of 2005, promising it for Q1 in 2006 and then finally delivering it in Q3 of 2006 would not send a very good sign to the market. Of course, if it is a hit then all will be forgiven....
