Motorola Showing Signs of Wireless Momentum

MarketWatch reports that financial analysts are feeling quite bullish on Motorola's prospects in light of gains in worldwide market share and new phones ready to hit the market this holiday season.

CIBC World Markets analyst Ittai Kidron said, "We continue to believe that Motorola will report strong results and another quarter of market share growth, with unit shipments likely to be above our projection of 36 million."

Albert Lin at American Technology Research added, "We expect Samsung and (Korean counterpart) LG to both continue losing market share to other tier-one phone makers through at least the third quarter of 2006."

SG Cowen & Co. analyst Christin Armacost concurred with his peers and said, "We expect strong handset sales and some cost-cutting to benefit Motorola's third-quarter results."

Although some suggest Moto's best selling Razr will face stiffer competition, Lin commented that "At this time, we are not convinced these products will be viewed to be as good, but pricing may be surprisingly low, resulting in a good market performer on value."
