Nokia Says Sales on the Rise

The New York Times writes that Nokia has upped it sales forecast in addition to introducing a new corporate email product to take on Research in Motion. Nokia noted pricing for its handsets have remained firm since July. Carolina Milanesi at Gartner said Nokia's average sales price was "not decreasing as much as they thought. Over all, their mix is improved. They are shifting more toward that mid- and high-tier model. They have really started to do what everyone has been telling them to do."

BusinessWeek attributed part of Nokia's rise to growing overall industry demand in less-developed markets and among an ever younger audience. The article cites research from Informa Telecoms & Media that the number of new mobile-phone users "will leap to 380 million this year from last year's record of 335 million."
