Analyst Quotes on the iPod Nano

In order to save time, I'm just going to compile analyst quotes in one post regarding the Apple iPod Nano and update it throughout the day.

At Technology Pundits, Rob Enderle wrote:

There is no doubt in my mind that the iPod Nano is a hit. Sleek sexy and signaling a move from the aging white ID to a more contemporary black this product is well priced and uses the successful iPod interface. For the iPod users ready to get the next big thing in music players and for those just coming into the fold this should be a hit.
Michael Gartenberg blogs live from the event at the Jupiter Analyst Weblogs, and posts:
As for the Nano, that’s what caused the most buzz and excitement here. Clearly, Apple meant that bit about 1,000 songs in your pocket again (and as my colleague David Card pointed out, that’s change pocket, literally). Pictures do not do this device justice. The form factor is amazing, this clearly fits in our mobile taxonomy in the invisible space. But it’s a real iPod, with scroll wheel and a beautiful hi-res color display. The dock connector is the same so all the key accessories will work just fine with it. With the integration with Outlook with iTunes 5.0 and the small size, I can even see folks using this as a personal information manager. With all the buzz around devices like the RAZR, there’s no doubt in my mind that the market is going to go for this product in a big way. Apple’s price points work rather well (remember that the mini came in at the same price point) with the incentive to always upsell to the next level. Remember, the Nano is about form as well as function. Think folks won’t pay for form? Just look at how many RAZRs Apple’s partner Motorola sold. At this price point, the Nano isn’t the cheapest 4gb player but that’s not what this product is about. At the moment, there’s nothing else like it on the market.
At Macworld, Jupiter’s Michael Gartenberg added, "To kill the mini is a really bold step for Apple. Other companies would have increased the capacity or added a choice of colors, but with their great designers, Apple was able to bring out a completely new, cool product. These announcements show the naysayers that believe Apple should release a video iPod that there is still a lot of life left in music."

MarketWatch reported on the impact of Apple's most important move today, the iPod nano. Neil Strother at NPD Group said, "The marketplace will ultimately decide the wisdom of Apple's latest moves." Gene Munster at Piper Jaffray was more bullish on the Nano, "This is going to be a pretty hot product. It could be Apple's next home run."

"it's hard to see how they make any money on the 4-gigabyte version. This, is a way to grab market share," he opined.
