Is Direct To Consumer A Good Model?

Courtesy of the folks at dotMobi comes this pointer to an analysis by David H. Deans of a recent report from Informa Telecoms & Media about Mobile Content Direct to Consumer. I know it's a bit convoluted but you gotta give credit where credit is due.

Both posts provide a nice analysis of the issues and challenges the mobile industry faces, especially when Informa predicts "mobile entertainment revenues are expected to double in the next five years - from $21.3 billion in 2006 to $42.1 billion in 2010 worldwide."

That's a whole lotta of moolah the various players will be chasing and not necessarily willing to share with each other. Not sure which model will win out, but it will be fun to watch it play out. Personally, I believe the network operators will eventually be relegated to just providing the wireless pipes for content delivery...
