CTIA: Wireless Futures

Unstrung provides a preview of Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) Wireless 2006 show convening in Las Vegas this week. The article looks at some of the trends coming into the event, such as recent mergers and acquisitions, the competition between WiMax and other high-speed wireless technologies, the mobile enterprise, and dual-mode devices.

Jack Gold at J. Gold Associates said, "I’d expect to see Samsung and LG try to move into this [dual-mode] space, as well as Sony Ericsson and of course RIM." Gold also called this "the year of location-based services."
