JupiterResearch: Some nice new Windows Mobile phones at 3GSM

The worse part about all these major mobile industry shows is that you get teased with myriad new handsets, most of which will never see the light of day in the U.S. Michael Gartenberg has a short post at the Jupiter Analyst Weblogs about "Steve Ballmer showing off some of the latest and greatest at 3GSM." Gartenberg writes that:

The new [i-Mate] SmartFlip (HTC Star Trek) looks like it delivers on my cell phone dreams. Be interesting to see when (and if) this one ships. Looks like MOTO has some competition for the Q.

Given Motorola's less than stellar track record delivering smartphones that either don't work well or end up as vaporware, such as the
MPx 220 and the ill-fated MPx), I won't hold my breath waiting for the Moto Q. It'll probably end up with the BenQ P50 as one of those handsets you drool over on paper and never in person. My bet is the i-Mate/HTC handset will be beamed up sooner to consumers....
