New Wireless Challenge

The Seattle Times profiles Seattle company Wireless Services, which provides outsourced wireless data services to more than 30 wireless carriers. The company has been riding the text messaging boom, and according to M:Metrics "67 million users sent a message in July, which was about 40 percent of the 180 million U.S. cellphone subscribers."

The article noted the challenge the company faces as two of it top customers have been acquired, Nextel by Sprint and Western Wireless by AllTel. Seamus McAteer at M:Metrics questioned "whether it would be easy for Wireless Services to keep the business," since it's not usual for acquiring companies to adopt the practices of the company it acquires.

"They've got to be concerned. "They are going to have to go in and win that business," McAteer said.
